What is About Bangkok?

The global book market is undergoing a massive revolution of late. Two things are happening – stories are getting shorter, and they’re being read on line.

As more and more books are being converted to ebooks the traditional argument that there’s nothing like a real book to snuggle up with are being swept aside by the benefits to both buyer and seller in providing digital formats.

In addition, the new technologies and new media are making it easier and easier to disseminate both ebooks and traditional p(rint)-books.

About Bangkok aims to identify and nurture new talent and bring their stories on-line, or in to print using the latest Print on Demand technology.

Who are we?

About Bangkok is an on-line initiative by the founders of Bangkok's iconic Metro Magazine, which ceased publishing in late 2006 due to the lack of integrity in the English language magazine market in Bangkok.

For the last 20 years we've been publishing books, magazines newsletters,reports and brochures for dozens of clients, and now we believe it's time to take it all on-line.

With cookie-cutter educations, and formulaic learning, we've all been taught to "Sell the Sizzle - not the Sausage". But what many of us have forgotten is how to make that %$##$ Sausage in the first place!

Be it a magazine, a website, or an ebook, people are just turning out what advertisers want, and to heck withwhether it actually provides vale for the intended recipient.

About:Bangkok is primarily designed as a community for writers and edtors to exchange ideas and keep up with the latest trends and gossip. To encourage quality and usefulness in the publications we create.

Through About:Bangkok we aim to nurture talent, and showcase the works of the litrerary community. And we're also providing a space for them to develop their own businesses on line if they so desire.

What type of writing are we promoting?

At About Bangkok, we specialise in short stories. Even most of the longer stories we're publishing now are actually a series of Vignettes - each a story in itself.
